Modern flat track roller derby is a fast-growing sport. There are currently hundreds of leagues spanning the globe; over 170 are governed by the , including the Boston Derby Dames.
BDD sponsors reach a diverse and constantly growing fan base. Our first bout in March 2006 at the Mass Art gym sold out 620 seats in 20 minutes. By February 2008, attendance at our Shriners Auditorium venue topped 1400. We currently play in Wilmington, MA and Cambridge, MA, and are looking to expand our venue selection to other places in the Boston metro area.
Our league, like many others, is skater-owned and operated—we rely on hard work from our skaters and support from local businesses and fans to help us continue to put on amazing bouts and activities. Our 2014 season has nine bouts (seven of which are double-headers) at Shriners Auditorium and Simoni Rink, along with several special events planned.
